Things to Know About Labiaplasty Recovery

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of protruding and folded labia. Too much tissue in labia can cause pain and discomfort in all types of clothing, irritability during daily activities, and self-consciousness in public and intimate settings. Labiaplasty targets additional tissue to alleviate these concerns.

Labiaplasty is a safe and effective procedure with both cosmetic and functional benefits. Since most women consider having this procedure, here are four common questions about women's recovery from the procedure.

The two most common things you may experience during early recovery are swelling and itching. The swelling usually peaks within two to three days after surgery and then gradually subsides over the next several weeks.

Itching is normal in the first week as long as everything is healing. It is important to see your surgeon when itching persists, as it may be a sign of a yeast or bacterial infection, or the itching may be an allergic reaction to a medication. After a week, the swelling, initial post-surgery pain, and itching will subside dramatically.

In general, it is a good idea to reduce activity after surgery. Swelling can be controlled with a cold compress, while itching and discomfort can be treated with a cooling pads.

Also, always consult your doctor before applying anything to the surgical area, and be sure to have a follow-up visit with your plastic surgeon to check on the healing.

During surgery, plastic surgeons often use dissolving stitches in the area, which typically last three to four weeks. Most of the stains blend very well with tissues of the labia, which naturally has numerous wrinkles and layers.

It can be hidden so well that not even a gyno can detect it. After the stitches dissolve, the scar tissue will remain for several months before softening.

Women generally return to their active lifestyle and exercise routine two to four weeks after labiaplasty while the scars may take six to eight weeks to heal before you can have intercourse again, but check with your doctor first.

Labiaplasty is an effective procedure with long-lasting results. If you think this may be right for you, be sure to consult a certified plastic surgeon in your area.

When choosing a surgeon, never be determined by the first search results on Google. You should review the best surgeons in your area and take a deep look at them.

Are their patients happy with them? What is the success rate of the surgeon? Does the surgeon have experience with labiaplasty? These are a few questions you need answered to know the best plastic surgeon in your area, so you can get perfect results.

Also, clients’ testimonials and reviews are a great way to know if a surgeon is good. Happy clients mean good service, and price should be the least of your concerns when going for a surgical procedure as you do not want to risk your body and health for money.
